Warm Foothills

I am ridiculously, undeniably and unapologetically obsessed with Alt J. Well, can you blame me? They’re so brilliantly addictive. Their music is so intricate, so weird and so beautiful. I just get fixated on one sound, or a melody or a line and it’ll just be stuck in my head for hours. They seem to experiment with their music and leave a lot of breathing space after a heavy track. And the music is so uplifting it feels like someone is stirring your insides up and rousing your senses. I cannot believe I’m going to watch them live. I’ve already read everything about them and watched their live performances.

If you’re planning to start listening to them, you need to start with ‘An Awesome Wave’. My favourite tracks are ‘Tessellate’, ‘Fitzpleasure’, ‘Matilda’, ‘Breezeblocks’ and ‘Something Good.’ Pure brilliance.

Their second album, ‘This is All Yours’ is something else. It’ll transport you somewhere else until you feel lost, in a good way. My favourite tracks are ‘Hunger of the Pine’, ‘Every Other Freckle’ and ‘Warm Foothills.’

I feel incomplete if I don’t listen to them in the bus every day to and from work. Even when I don’t listen to them, I can hear them playing in my head. Like at work, when I’m trying to concentrate and write a really convincing copy, I have to go “Aw, damn” and play them in the background to help me focus. Music really is a drug. My brain is releasing so many endorphins right now, I feel light and heavy at the same time. I will go nuts during their concert. February 28th. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

You know what? I always wanted to be at this stage in my life. A stage where I have the money, the time and the freedom to indulge in the things I love. It cannot get better than this. Plus, the weather right now is perfect. And tomorrow I’m moving into my new home 🙂
